Beauty Editor’s Pick. The Power Massage

Annabel Meggeson tests a massage with Beata Aleksandrowicz at Pure Massage.

Beata is a beauty ed’s favourite, she has lots of high-profile clients and has even written a massage guide for The Guardian. My hopes are high. Her approach is very nurturing. She sits me down, looks me over then informs me in her soft voice that I have extreme tension in my back (probably true) and she senses I’m in a period of transition (true). The treatment focuses solely on my neck, shoulders and back, and is more technically brilliant than blissful. She powers through knots in my shoulders (not exactly painless) and uses effective strokes that leave me feeling lighter and more supple. I walk taller and straighter for days afterwards.

Best for Bad backs.
