Face Therapy

As I walked out of Pure Massage, after an hour of Face Therapy with Beata Aleksandrowicz, I felt like new woman. It could be that I fell asleep as her ‘healing’ hands applied gentle pressure to my face but, such was my relaxed state, it didn’t matter why.

Aleksandrowicz is a woman in tune with muscles. She’s no body builder, don’t get me wrong, but she’s remarkably talented at removing aches, pains and strains via the medium of massage.

Before you’ll find yourself dropping off on the bed, in the peaceful place that is the treatment room, you’ll be quizzed to within an inch of your life. Beata Aleksandrowicz firmly believes the cure is to tackle your lifestyle head on – and not just pummel it into shape.

Once she has a full understanding of your lifestyle (and, I might add, Beata had the measure of mine despite not having time for the full questionnaire), the first session will determine how receptive you are to the concept and whether it’s worth signing up for the full course.

Aleksandrowicz asked me if I had a habit of grinding my teeth. Coincidentally – or not – I had just been to see a new dentist that morning, who asked me the same question. My answer, to both, was that if I did, I was unaware of it. Awareness is key to Face Therapy, in my opinion. I was blissfully unaware of how I was holding my face until that day. Even now, after just one session with Beata, I am aware when I’m clenching my jaw (which is alarmingly often) – testament to the importance of embarking on the full course and not just a drop-in session. By learning how to relax your face, your facial muscles are less likely to look wrinkly and haggard.

Face Therapy was created to release all visible signs of tension and stress.
According to Aleksandrowicz, the face holds all our anxieties, traumas and memories – from birth. The aim of the six-session course is to release all of this strain by working on connective tissue and re-educating every muscle of the face. Gradually, the facial muscle tone will be revived with finer contour around the cheekbones and jaw, the skin will glow, and most importantly you will discover your own face.
