Complimentary Massage Day: 24 April 2008
‘Touch a Heart’ gives us the chance to reach out to our senior citizens and let them know that we appreciate and care about them by giving them the gift of touch.
‘Touch a Heart’ is a unique charitable project founded by Beata Aleksandrowicz, massage therapist and co-founder of Pure Massage. After the great success of last year’s event, we would like to invite you to be a part of this year’s Massage Day taking place on Thursday 24th April 2008. Due to high demand we are expanding our London based project so that therapists from across the UK can now take part in this amazing day!
The Massage Day for senior citizens takes place in nursing homes, hospices, lunch clubs and anywhere else where there is a need for touch. If you are a qualified massage therapist and would like to donate your time to offer free massages please register! If you are unable to massage on 24th April please do still take part and massage on a day as close as possible to 24th April that is more practical for you.

What we ask for
- find your local elderly centre
- register for the event
- read the agreement for the rules of the event
- give at least five 15 minute massages at your elderly centre
- fill out a short report after each treatment

How to enrol your local centre
- telephone your elderly centre and talk to the manager about the project
- present you qualifications, insurance
- present the leaflet describing the event and a copy of the agreement to ensure the manager of the professional approach to the project
- present the possibility of regular treatments after the initial massage experience
Suggestions for the massage
Every treatment should last 15 minutes and you should be able to give at least three massages that day.
We suggest that because of the very specific conditions of giving massages on that day to sometimes very old and seriously ill people, you will give seated or lying down massages, fully clothed including face, hands and feet massage.
Report of each treatment
‘Touch a Heart’ is still developing and we would like to do the best we can to make society more aware of the importance of touch and the situation of elderly citizens.
We need feedback from you and from the person you massaged in order to help us develop the project and make it even better for following years. We appreciate your help in this matter.

You can also use the forum if you have more than one elderly centre and you would like to offer one to somebody, if you can’t find an elderly centre in your area, if your elderly centre has many people and you need a second therapist to help you, etc
