The Kalahari Bushmen
I had an enormous opportunity to spend some time with the oldest culture on earth, the Kalahari Bushmen. I visited their village in South Namibia twice, in order to learn their healing traditions and as part of my journey through indigenous cultures, to research the importance of Touch.
In the beginning silence was present, followed by careful touch on the hands. Words, which emerged afterwards had meaning and depth, because Touch itself initiated verbal communication.
While sitting there, under the tree, in 40 degrees heat with these extraordinary people, I realized that we are generally afraid of the unknown and that Touch is indeed unknown. This is a journey through all our prejudgments, opinions and verbal frames in order to reach the silence of another human being. This is a moment when the pearl inside each of us starts to shine.
We feel good, beautiful, important and most important we feel loved.
